How much does an AI WhatsApp agent cost in Costa Rica?

What you pay for when you implement an AI agent on WhatsApp: setup, monthly plan and Meta messaging fees, explained in plain language.

Published · 5 min read

More and more spas, clinics and tourism businesses in Costa Rica receive most of their inquiries on WhatsApp. Replying on time becomes impossible when the team is busy serving customers in person. An AI agent solves that, but before deciding it helps to understand what you pay for and why.

The three cost components

1. Initial setup (one-time)

This is the work of getting the agent ready to serve your customers:

  • Gathering your business information: services, prices, hours, policies and FAQs.
  • Connecting the official Meta WhatsApp Business Platform account.
  • Integrating your calendar (for example, Google Calendar) to offer real availability and avoid double bookings.
  • Defining when the agent should hand the conversation to a person.
  • Testing with real conversations before launch.

At GoNative Lab this step has a published reference price on our pricing page, and the exact amount is set in writing in the proposal.

2. Monthly support plan

An agent is not something you install and forget. The monthly plan covers:

  • The infrastructure the agent runs on, and its monitoring.
  • The cost of the AI model.
  • Adjustments to replies based on real conversations.
  • Direct support when prices, hours or services change.

3. Meta messaging fees

Meta charges for messages sent through the official WhatsApp platform. The rate depends on the message type (for example, reminders or promotional messages) and the country, and Meta updates it often. That is why this cost should be billed separately and at cost, with no hidden margins. During the assessment we estimate what it would mean for your volume.

How do you know if it is worth it?

The right question is not how much the agent costs, but how much it costs you today to reply late. Try this quick exercise:

  1. Count how many inquiries you get per week after hours or during busy moments.
  2. Estimate how many of those people end up booking elsewhere.
  3. Multiply by the average value of a booking.

If the result is higher than the monthly plan, the agent pays for itself, without even counting the hours your team stops spending on the same questions.

Common hiring mistakes

  • Choosing on price alone. A cheap bot that makes up times or prices hurts your reputation more than it saves.
  • Not using the official platform. Unofficial solutions can get your number blocked.
  • Forgetting human handoff. Some cases will always need a person.
  • Not measuring results. Ask for reports on conversations handled and bookings generated.

In short

A WhatsApp agent has a setup cost, a monthly plan and Meta messaging fees. Done right, it recovers bookings you are losing today and frees up your team. To find out what it would mean for you, get a free assessment.
